High-growth, family business earns another top-performance honor

Strongsville, Ohio — GTS Communications, a telecommunications firm specializing in business phone systems and fiber cabling, was awarded today its second Weatherhead 100 honor for outstanding growth.

The 2006 Weatherhead 100 program recognizes more than 100 of the fastest-growing companies in Northeast Ohio based on revenue growth from 2001 to 2005.

GTS ranked #14 in the upstart category, which measures the sales and employment performance of organizations that, in 2005, had 15 or fewer employees and/or less than $1 million in net sales. GTS revenues last year were more than $1 million, and the company employs 12.

The 20th annual event was presented by Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Victoria and Kelli accepting the Weatherhead 100 AwardManagement in partnership with COSE, the Council of Smaller Enterprises. Honors were bestowed upon winning companies at a black-tie dinner ceremony at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven in Mayfield Heights.

GTS posted sales growth of 114 percent and employment growth of 100 percent during the five-year period. The company has been in business ten years, and is owned by Jerry and Victoria Stallard, who are president and vice president respectively. It’s been a banner 18 months for GTS when it comes to performance awards. In June of this year, the Stallards were designated the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Small Business People of the Year for the Cleveland district.

In November, the GTS success story was deemed one of the 12 best in the region at the Northeast Ohio Business Conference in Akron. The company also won the 2005 COSE Ten Under 10, an honor recognizing ten top-performing small businesses in Northeast Ohio.

GTS has had no voluntary employee turnover in its history, and recently moved into a company-owned building in Strongsville six times the size of their former space.
