GTS Communications makes acquisition

GTS Communications of North Olmsted, which specializes in fiber optic cabling for data, voice audio and video communications, has acquired a similar Canton-based company.

GTS's vice president, Victoria Stallard, declined to disclose the purchase price of Ohio Communications Technology.

The acquisition will boost GTS's annual sales by 10%, Ms. Stallard said. The company expects to post just under $2 million in sales this year, a 35% increase compared with last year, she said.

Ohio Communications had just one employee, Douglas Pitcher, Sr., who will fill the newly created position of operations manager. MR.Pitcher is GTS's 12th employee, Ms. Stallard said.

Next spring, GTS plans to move to a 6,000 square-foot space in Strongsville, Ms. Stallard said. The company currently occupies about 1,000 square feet in North Olmsted.

"I've got 12 people and it's pretty cramped," Ms. Stallard said of the company's current office.
