5 Tips on How to Use Popular Features on Your Nortel Phone

Here's a refresher on how to use common features on any Nortel Norstar or Nortel Meridian phone... brought to you by three of GTS' most talked-about "technicians" - Link, Timber and Harley!

TRANSFER A CALL

Essential for reminding the boss about grooming appointments.

1. With the caller on the line, press the TRANSFER key or press Feature 70.
2. Dial the extension of the person to whom you are transferring the call.
3. You may announce the call by waiting for the called party to answer.
4. Press JOIN to complete the transfer.

MAKE A CONFERENCE CALL

It's good to have our agent listen-in on interviews with the pawparazzi.

1. Make or receive the first call.
2. Press the HOLD key.
3. Place the second call.
4. Press the Conference key or press the Feature button, then 3.
5. Press the INTERCOM key next to the first call on hold.

TURN DO NOT DISTURB (DND) ON AND OFF

Important for minimizing interruptions during nap-at-work time.

1. To turn it on: Press the DND key or press the Feature button, then 85.
2. To turn it off: Press the DND key or the Feature button, then #85.

DETERMINE THE DURATION OF A CALL

If we have to wait five minutes for a treat, we can hold someone to it.

1. During your call or just after your call...
2. Press the Feature button, then 77. This will show "static" call duration.

FORWARD A MESSAGE

One way to spread the word that it's time for a game of fetch!

1. Press the Feature key, then 1.
2. Dial the extension to which you want to forward the message.
